Hi, I’m Todd.
I’ve spent nearly 30 years in education as a classroom teacher, principal, district leader, and national consultant. Across those roles, one thing has stayed consistent: educators do their best work when big ideas are made clear, practical, and usable.
Through Insight Educational Solutions, I work with schools and districts to strengthen standards-based learning, assessment practices, instructional clarity, PLCs, and leadership systems that support meaningful student learning.
My goal is to help educators bridge the gap between intention and implementation.
A Career Rooted in Real School Experience
Before founding Insight Educational Solutions, I served in multiple roles across public education, including classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district-level administrator.
That experience shapes the way I support educators today. The ideas and practices I share are not theoretical. I understand what it feels like to lead a school, support teachers, navigate district initiatives, manage competing priorities, and keep the focus on students when the system gets messy.
My professional learning is designed for real educators working in real schools — not the perfect scenarios often found in professional development resources.

Imagine a school where every teacher knows what matters most, every student understands what success looks like, and every team is moving in the same direction. My work helps educators build the systems and practices that make that vision a reality.
This work often focuses on helping schools and districts improve areas such as standards-based learning, Power Standards, learning scales, assessment design, instructional clarity, PLCs, data-informed instruction, and instructional leadership.
At the center of all of this work is a simple belief: when educators are clear about what students need to learn, how learning develops, and how evidence of learning will be used, instruction becomes more focused and students are better supported.
What I Believe About Professional Learning
Professional learning should leave educators feeling energized, not exhausted.
Teachers are asked to do more than ever. New initiatives arrive before the last ones have taken root. Expectations keep growing. Time keeps shrinking. And too often, professional learning adds one more thing to an already full plate.
I believe educators don't need more programs, more binders, or more educational jargon. They need clarity. They need practical strategies that fit the reality of today's classrooms. They need time to think, collaborate, and focus on what will make the biggest difference for students.
That's why every workshop, presentation, and coaching session I lead is designed to answer a simple question: What can participants take from this experience and immediately apply in their classrooms, schools, and districts? If the work isn't practical, usable, and worth the time invested, it isn't good professional learning.

Todd Theobald is a nationally recognized K–12 educator, consultant, speaker, and founder of Insight Educational Solutions. With experience as a classroom teacher, principal, district administrator, and professional learning facilitator, Todd helps schools strengthen standards-based learning, assessment practices, PLCs, instructional clarity, and leadership systems.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to educational leadership and professional learning in schools, districts, conferences, and professional learning organizations across the country. Along the way, I’ve received recognition that reflects both my commitment to innovation and my passion for helping educators improve outcomes for students.
I was honored early in my leadership journey as Rookie Principal of the Year, and later selected as a National Distinguished Principal, one of the highest honors awarded to school leaders in the United States. I have also received two Innovator of the Year awards for work connected to teaching, learning, assessment, and school improvement.
Beyond my work in schools and districts, I’ve helped design and lead professional learning experiences that have reached thousands of educators. I co-created the Mastery Leadership Institute for MasteryConnect, created and facilitated Teacher Boot Camp, a hands-on learning experience attended by more than 10,000 educators, and co-founded the Center for Leadership and Learning for Instructure.
I’ve also presented at national conferences and worked with educators, coaches, principals, and district leaders across a wide range of school contexts. While I’m proud of those accomplishments, what matters most to me is what they represent: years of working alongside educators to turn complex ideas into practical actions that improve teaching and learning.
